1. Call to Order
– Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM.
– Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
– Previous meeting minutes were read.
– Brief introductions were made.
2. New Business
– President Jeff Matusik thanked members for attending and emphasized the need to
increase association membership.
– Treasurer Cory Huber acknowledged Vince Dinoflo for his dedication and 14 years of
service for the La Porte Lake Association.
– Current membership totals: 24 household members and 2 business members. Membership
due date was changed to 3/1. As members previous due dates are spread throughout 12
months. It is anticipated that membership renewals will grow as the month they previously
paid arrives.
-Eurasian Milfoil treatment
Aquatic Weed Control has been selected for our 2026 Treatments. The lake needs to reach
60 degrees for optimal treatment. We have a permit to treat up to 90 Acres. The cycle of
effectiveness of treatments was discussed in detail. We have steadily increased the acreage
treated each year. In the future a whole lake treatment may likely be necessary. Currently,
we are fortunate that the treatments are working and have exceeded our timeline and
expectations.
3. New Topics for Discussion
Clothing Report- Sales are good and we will update women’s styles and colors with our next
order.
Lake Courtesy Signs
-Lake Signs are complete and will be installed and distributed.
– Signs operate on a 3-year renewal cycle new signs are good through 2028.
– Signs provide boating information for Pine and Stone Lakes and serve as a fundraiser.
-Sign Project for the next three-year cycle will net a profit of $1,955.
Stone Lake Wells
-Peerless-Midwest Inc.- Joel Annable spoke regarding the wells installed near Stone Lake.
Joel is a long-time member of the La Porte Lake Association. The Pumps are for drinking
water only and will not impact lake levels. Joel would be glad to discuss it further as it was a
concern for members when installation began.
The La Porte Lake Association website
– The website is currently under renovation. New version will be released via Google
Business Page.
New Committees
– Sportsman’s Committee was created and will be headed by: Jordan Hull and Mason
Jones.
This committee will serve as an important bridge the lake association and the
outdoorsman and sportsman that use the lake.
– Fund Raising Committee was created and will be headed by: Barb Tracey and Karon
Steerzer.
This committee will be vital in maintaining that close relationship with the
community through small and large fundraising activities.
Community Engagement
– The Association plans to move forward this year and continue the Hot Dog fundraisers.
Dates and locations TBD. The La Porte Lake Association will have a presence at the La Porte
Farmers Market (Farm & Forget Market) Leland Travis will attend on the 5/24/26 and the
5/31/26 dates. Other dates are open and will be filled later.
Light Up the Lake
-The Light Up the Lake Firework show will now be run through the La Porte Lake
Association. The Lake Association has a unique opportunity to help promote an activity for
the many in the community while getting some important advertising and information
dissemination for our causes.
LARE Grant
– Vince Dinoto reports that The La Porte Lake Association will receive the maximum LARE
grant allotted money of $24,800 this year.
Partnership’s
The LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau were recognized for their donation and
continued partnership with the La Porte Lake Association. Gail Johnson was an attendee at
our meeting and spoke briefly about the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau
role in the community and their support of the La Porte Lake Association. The La Porte Lake
Association will in turn plan to attend the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau
on 4/28/26
Kabelin Drain Issue
– Kabelin drain was discussed for new members in attendance, and it was determined we
will go in a different direction with how we approach testing.
