Each spring, Pine Lake is surveyed for Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM), an invasive aquatic plant that can quickly take over shallow areas of the lake if left untreated. This year’s survey was completed on May 27, 2026, and the results are helping guide this season’s treatment plan.
What the Survey Found
The survey identified seven areas of the lake with EWM growth, totaling 19.9 acres. Growth ranged from low density to dominant stands, at depths of 4 to 5 feet.

Treatment Plan
Based on the density and depth of each area, two herbicides will be used this season: ProcellaCOR, applied at 3 PDU in areas with the heaviest growth, and 2,4-D, applied at 2.0 ppm in the lower density areas. Both are widely used, lake-safe treatments for managing EWM.
Cost Breakdown
The total cost of this year’s treatment is $13,610.80. As in past years, the majority of the cost is covered through the state’s LARE (Lake and River Enhancement) grant program, with the Pine Lake Association covering the remaining share.
